The Most Important Transportation Innovation of the Decade Is the Smartphone

So why don’t cities like Kampala and transit agencies like Taxis (Matatu) take more advantage of it???

As we think Mobility and transforming the public transport with innovation likes Uber, Friendship taxi, Safe Boda and many others  transforming the transport sector in Uganda.

This year Kampala is graced to be one of the cities around the world to host a local transport hackathon. The hackathon is brought to you by Fund Africa Inc. together with the Youth For Public Transport (Y4PT) Foundation, with the support of the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) and its members. With the main Theme of “USING TECHNOLOGY IN BUILDING INNOVATIVE PUBLIC TRANSPORT MODES” All university students, professionals, civil society, Public and Private sectors especially developers, project developers, entrepreneurs’ and anyone with a creative mind, ideas and concepts are all welcome to contest for the two day event that runs from the 24th to the 25th of November 2016.

Participants are challenged to develop creative and innovative solutions for challenges ranging from the ever growing traffic situation, pollution, pedestrians, cyclists, street cleaning, street parking, garbage collections, infrastructure, road safety and emergency handling.

The participants creative output can be inform of, working prototypes, virtual models (animation, video), graphics (renderings, infographics), simulation models, business and operational models, Mobile Apps, Desktop Apps, Robotics etc.

Together with other prizes and recognition the best project will be entitled to an all-paid trip to participate at the ‎Y4PT Global Transport Hackathon ‎Montreal 2017 the first ever global transport hackathon – in the framework of the 62th ‎UITP Global ‪Public Transport Summit Montreal 2017 – the world’s oldest and leading sustainable mobility event.
